I'm settling in for a night on the couch after a very busy day. Ah, it feels good to be sitting down.

Nice to have the extra hour. I didn't sleep in though. I never, ever do. I drove over to Kit's house after a quick stop at Starbucks. She wanted me to see her new couch and the progress she's making in organizing her basement. It's a daunting task, one that I don't envy, but she's making good progress. I went to Homegoods afterwards. Love that store! I just window shopped, mainly looking at the Christmas merchandise. The place was packed with women.

I came home and really, just wasted time. I thought of my blogging friends that accomplish so much with their time, and got a little depressed because I wasn't doing anything. That's why I need to stay busy. I plan to start making lists because there's a lot that needs to be done around here. The house needs to be spit-polish clean before I start decorating later this month. I pulled myself up by my bootstraps (how's that for an old-fashioned saying?) and got busy. I borrowed a neighbor's electric hedge trimmer, and spent a few hours trimming my hedges. Not one of my favorite jobs, but one I have to do twice a year. I have seven shrubs that are each about 4' around and 2' high. It's a messy job, but I have a system. I use two sheets to shroud the base of a bush, to catch the falling greenery. I spread a tarp on my driveway. I very carefully trim one bush at a time, gathering the sheets and emptying the contents onto the tarp before repeating the process on the next. When I finished that I used the trimmer to saw down the dried remnents of this year's perennials. Then I went about pulling up the impatience and wax begonias. That was sad because they're still in bloom, but the first frost would turn them into slime, and that day is fast approaching. It was a preemptive move. Three stuffed lawn bags later, and worn out, I entered the house, task accomplished. The Christmas lights now have a nice, flat surface to rest upon.

Last night I watched the first episode of this season's Desperate Housewives. I hadn't planned to watch the show, but it was great. So, I'm going to watch another episode now, and later I'll watch Brothers and Sisters. What are you doing tonight?

I need to get off of my duff! When I had bushes to trim, years ago, I used much of your same system. It's a great idea. I really just need to clean out the garden, that in some places, is still blooming. It's sad isn't it?

I hope you have a great week.

I hope someone leaves that kind of post about how to wash a car. My car is teeny and I cannot seem to get it clean. What is Brothers & Sisters? Tonite I paid bills and sent Jess home with a bunch of food. I don't know what I'm going to do now. "Talk" to you tomorrow.

You have one BIG chore completed. I hope to be able to say the same if I can get the nursery scheduled for the trees.

Em could always eat very well at my Sunday table. I make green salads with lots of fresh veggie stuff. We had fruit, nuts, crackers and cheese for snacks. There were brussel sprouts as an extra veggie. My crowd has varied tastes and I try to cater to them all on Sunday.

Sunday evening is my time. After the busy afternoon I just chill out.

I do my best to sleep in whenever I have the chance. Of course I wouldn't need to if I didn't stay up so dang late!

I too did almost nothing this weekend except conquer the world.....too bad it was only a computer game. Congratulations for being much more productive with your time.

Let's see. Last night I watched the Amazing Race 12, Desperate Housewives, and Brothers and Sisters. Then, I went to bed. Quite a boring evening actually.

That is such a good tip! Now I want to go trim my hedges. I am like you cannot put out decorations unless the house is clean. that is why I am having a garage sale in a couple of weeks.keep motivating me.

I never sleep in either - I always walk first thing in the morning.
I had the kids and grandkids over all day. :-)
In the evening I cleaned up things a bit and then knitted and read.
You are allowed to just sit and do nothing sometimes. Don't be so hard on yourself. You seem to always be doing something and are busy to me!!

Cheryl,

If you ever start to get down on yourself and feel like you're not accomplishing anything come over and read my blog and you'll feel like the most productive human being on Earth. ;)

I did go to work last night so I'm proud of myself for doing that at least. LOL

Wow, you really got some stuff done! I am so impressed - I am horrible about doing fall cleanup in the garden. Most years I just let it go and have a mammoth clean out in the spring.

so, I copied you and went to KOHLS and bought myself some much needed jeans (2) and sweaters (2). It was so hard to do and I felt guilty. I remembered what you said about always spending money on the kids and not myself and went ahead and bought them. I'm happy too. Now I have to go clean my front lawn and get my house pish polished! Love reading you... you inspire me.

What a busy job that is to trim the hedges. Great system, though, to keep clean up to a minimum.

I encourage your lists. I love lists... probably a little too much! How bout a pic of the hedges? I bet they look good after a haircut.

As for my novel, excerpts are okay as long as nothing is in its entirety. I actually left out large chunks in the portion you read today. ;)
