When I looked out on my deck this crisp Fall morning, I saw a squirrel drinking from the birdbath. Then I saw he was just kind of picking at the water. After he left, I went outside to find it completely frozen. I guess it's time to unravel the hidden cord and plug in the heater. The birds and the squirrels use the birdbath year round. It was an expensive purchase, but I've gotten years worth of pleasure out of watching the creatures use it.

I'm ready for work on this Saturday morning. Lots of energy, 'cause I'm a morning person. Only two of us stylists start at 8:00. One or two start at 8:30. We start out with soft jazz music. By 9:15 the salon is busy and loud and the radio station's tuned to rock. I love the early quietness before the day starts rolling. By 11:00, I can't believe I still have 2 1/2 hours to go. As I start my last client at 2:00, I can feel the anticipation of my latte at Border's. Coffee is my drug. Then, the time comes and I'm off for 'my' weekend. Ah, I wish that time was now. But, alas (I love that word), it's time to go. Happy Saturday.

Did I read that right? You have an electric birdbath? Or am I barking up the wrong tree? I hope not.

I haven't bought an electric birdbath because there is a creek very close to our house that doesn't freeze plus a large spring in the park, also close. Heated birdbaths are wildlife's best friend in areas where natural water isn't available.

Hope your work day goes well and that you have a happy go lucky weekend.

The heated birdbath makes me laugh! But what a great idea. I guess you're at work by now listening to soft jazz. Have a great Saturday!

Happy Saturday to you too, Cheryl. Have a great weekend! I too like to start my morning out at a nice quiet pace. I often go to work early just so I can settle in before the crowd comes and the chaos begins. I'm glad your day passes quickly, and you have something lovely to look forward to when it's over. A heated birdbath? You're an angel!

If I had a view like the one from your room from yesterday, I would have an electric birdbath too!

Hope your work day is over quickly so you can get to Borders and enjoy yourself.

happy weekend -

Happy Saturday to you too.
By now you just have 2 hours of work left. :-)
I am going to look into a heated birdbath. What a great idea!

Thankfully, it never gets so cold here to require a heated birdbath. I would like one though. You know how guys like overkill and gaudy gadgets to show off! You have two more hours left my my clock. Enjoy borders and I hope you get online with the WIFI.

i didn't even know there was a such thing as a heated birdbath, but i know the birds appreciate it. i love watching birds and listening to them sing.

i'm not a morning person at all. perhaps if i left jay (leno) and david (letterman) and jimmy (kimmel) alone, i could get up early.

I am yet another one who never heard of a heated bird bath... and I am going to look into them. I think my husband would love one!

I think you should get a commission.

Cheryl,

I really appreciate your positive optimistic tone. I enjoy reading your blog because of your kind generous view of the world.

Alas is a fun word, isn't it? Very old world. That is so cool that you have a heated bird bath. It reminds me of my brother living in Alaska and they plug in their cars every night to keep the engines from freezing. All over the city there were just random outlets to plug your car into!

Have a great weekend!
