It's been a very long Sunday. Looooog. It was one of those 'jump out of bed' and get out of the house mornings. I headed to Panera's by my parent's and hung out on a very comfortable double-seated leather chair. I had a latte, then a few cups of regular. From there I went to my parent's. I did my mom's hair color. She's set with color and cut for the next month. Then I went about figuring out how to work my parent's Blu-Ray DVD player. I just couldn't get it. Finally I called my brother to see if he could help. Guess what? You turn on the TV, turn on the DVD player, and that's it. No input buttons, DirectTV remotes, etc. It was too easy! I also found out that you can play HD DVD's and regular DVD's on the Blu-Ray player. I printed up new directions for my parents and put away the HD directions and remote. They don't ever have to use that DVD player with it's complicated directions. I made sure my parents understood how to use the remotes and follow the instructions before I left. I also insisted that my father watch the NASCAR race on the big TV. Despite having a TV that I'm having serious envy issues over, he usually watches everything on the little kitchen TV. Go figure. I stopped by Sears on the way home to look at their TVs. I'm still not ready to make a decision.

I picked up Emily and her friends and brought them here. They played Wii. I made quesadillas. They hung out. Finally, I dropped them off at the movies.

It was a bad eating day. Lots of coffee, two granola bars, a half a plain bagel, a banana, two McDonald's snack wrappers, and three mini Dove chocolates. Blah.

Tomorrow will be busy. My neighbor and I have a mammogram date. Sound like fun? Not. We'll go out to lunch afterwards. That will be the reward. No woman enjoys getting a mammogram. For me the worst part is the worry afterwards till you get the results in the mail. I'll also be getting my first bone density test.

That's about it for me. Over and out!

The Bone Density test is nothing, compared to the Mam. I did one at the gym a few months ago, and the gal told me I have the bones of a teenager. Now if I just had the skin, and the boobs and the energy of a teenager!

Hope youre enjoying the remains of the day.

Oh...I cooked the spoon roast in the pressure cooker for 40 minutes...it's "spoon tender". Home made mashed potatoes, biscuits and salad to finish it off.

Wishing you a great week, Cheryl!

Sounds like you had a busy Sunday. Mine was so laid back. The most effort I made today was some typing and making Andy a nacho grande to eat with his NASCAR!

I had a bad eating day too. Doughnuts this morning and chili cheese dogs wrapped in tortilla tonight. I'll be sorry I did that too. LOL

I was lazy today, but needed it after the past two weeks of crazy travel for work. After eating too much food over a late breakfast with family I was like a beached whale all afternoon!

good luck with the bone density test!

Bone Density tests are simple. Mammograms on the other hand can totally flatten your day. (Sorry, just couldn't resist.) I believe I first saw that piece of equipment in a horror movie - in a torture chamber, I believe.

I hope your father did watch the race on the big TV. Awsome!!

I read that HD DVD's are on their way out now. Market's decided they like Blu-Ray better.

Of course it doesn't sound like a bad eating day to me!

Did someone mention mammograms? Yikes! If this contraption would have been used to examine manly bits they'd have come out with a far-less painful method by now!

Ugh, not a good time, but a necessary evil I guess, mammograms, I mean. At least there is no needles, or otherwise invasive procedure involved. I think that's the only positive thing I can say about it, other than it's over quickly...on this issue, I can tell you it's the only time I have ever really been happy to be small in that department, I always thought that the bigger you are, the more pain? Just a hunch...

Have fun at lunch, and enjoy your day otherwise...

This post is a timely reminder that I was supposed to book a mammogram 3 months ago and I also never rang about the results of my pap smear done in December. Guess everything must have been fine or they would have called right? Right..... Good luck with yours and I will be on the phone first thing in the morning to book mine.

I have yet to have a mammogram, and hurt they really hurt! I like the fact that you have it with another friend, and then the special treat afterwards, that's good!

YEA!! You got your dove chocolates in! I know, you probably woke up feeling groggy, but I too ate like a moron yesterday...
and no, I didn't go see 27 dresses...stayed home, and felt better about that.

I cant' have BDD read this post, because he wants a blue ray to watch movies in HD..I say, lets wait until the prices are cut in half, in say a year or so...we do have HD on the tv and I do love the color, but am like your dad and content to watch tv on my 7yeard old tv up in our bedroom, which by the way, decided to stop working according to a cable in the back that gives it that not so snowy look...you think I'm being set up by my HD loving angel in house? :) Hahah

Have a great President's day!
Always,
Elizabeth

Good luck with the mammogram. I find they are not as bad as everyone says.
The bone density is a piece of cake!
What a good idea to go with a friend and then out for lunch.
btw - I'm almost half finished withThe Glass Castle and so far like it a lot. The book reads like fiction. Hard to imagine having parents like that.

My first stop at your blog after following your link commnet form PW's. Bookmarking you for future visits. Loved the idea of your Dad watching his little familiar TV instead of the bigger, complicated one - very Dad-like!

LOL, stumbled on your blog. I can SO relate to the writing down instructions for your parents and their TV... Why do they make some of the set ups so complicated?

Love the idea of a mammo date and lunch. Nice reward.

Sooner or later we're going to have to make the move to a big screen HD TV. My wife is sitting behind me as I type this, and I have to come up with a clever way to entice her to want to get one. Any suggestions? ;)

So cute about your dad preferring the smaller kitchen tv.
