Em asked what I was going to do after dinner. I told her I'd either be laying on the hammock or sitting on the front porch. I opted for the porch. I've been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the hummingbirds, and this is the time of day they're usually most active. So far, no luck. I bought a third feeder today and put it on my deck. I hope I have luck with that one. It's very close to another feeder and I don't know if the birds will go for it. We'll see.

Today was the perfect day to be off. The weather was outstanding and I got a lot done. Surprise! The really big thing I did today was to take out all the caulk in Emily's tub and clean the grout and the tub. It was a gross job, but needed to be done. Then I mowed the lawn. I don't have a lot of lawn, so it wasn't hard. Then I dug a trench around my garden. I'm going to take a picture now to show you. BRB.

OK. The first picture is from the house to the street, then next from the street to the house. The perennials are growing noticeably every day. The columbines should be the next to flower. I love seeing this sleeping garden come to life. I've resisted the urge to purchase my annuals. Another week or two will do it.

I went to the hardware store after I did the trenching to see if I could get a new tire for my wheelbarrow. The only time I remember it's flat is when I need it. I decided to put the whole thing in my car in the hope that someone from Ace hardware would replace it for me. Nope. The guy did inflate the tire and we found the hole. He told me how to take the tire off and sold me an inner tube. I didn't want to do the work! I really want a nice plastic garden cart like Happyone. The guy told me Goodyear would probably be able to inflate the inner tube and put it on. I drove over there and they told me nope. That I should check out a trailer place. All I want is something to cart my mulch from under the deck to the garden! I'll call around tomorrow to see if I can find a place that can do it. I did get the wheel off. When I was done with that I hung out in the hammock. I was exhausted. After resting up I put down the new caulk in the tub. I hope I don't need to do that again for a long, long time.

Here's a picture of the birdfeeder tree. No hummingbirds yet.

I think I'll go in now and do what I didn't do this morning: take a shower. Then I'm sitting on the couch and taking it easy. Later!

I figured you would get some good yard work done today. My father's favorite thing in the whole world is toodling around his back yard, pulling weeds and trimming plants. He has such a green thumb as well. Like you. Rest tonight. Enjoy some TV and have a great evening!

The yard really looks nice. Very neat and clean and all that good stuff.

Do you have any farm supply places near you? Like a John Deer place or a Tractor Supply Rental or anything like that? They should be able to fix that tire for you pretty easily.

Honey, If you have a little ma & pa auto repair shop nearby try them, and bat your eye lashes - sex discrimination can work both ways

hi Cheryl, sounds like you had a productive and restful day. did you watch Lost tonight? it was a new one. the more i watch of Lost, the more lost i get. hopefully, by the time it ends, if not before, i'll start understanding things more, but it's still good.

Beautiful. You have such a nice yard. It takes a lot of work - you sure can accomplish a lot during a day. Wish I could.

Lost was full of action tonight. When the black somke does it's thing does it just go back into it's hole or does Ben have to do something to call it back? The more I learn the less I know.

You are awesome. I think of you often when I need to motivate myself to get things done around the house. Your hard work certainly pays off, the yard looks beautiful!

You've sure had a busy day.
I don't have a yard, so no yard work. Hence I have more play time.

Today was spent shopping with my sons girlfriend for his birthday present. He turns 27 on Monday. Then he and his girlfriend are moving to New Jersey on Tuesday. So sad. I'm going to miss them.

I hope you have an awesome weekend. I plan on riding and going to the beach. The weather is supposed to be glorious. The traffic is much lighter now that the Canadians have headed home. Yippee.

Your garden is coming along nicely. I love this time of year when things are popping up all over the place.
My garden cart is actually metal but it is thin, light and very easy to push or pull around. I like it so much better than my old wheelbarrow. I got it at Kendel's Hardware on 108 in Clarksville. I love that store.
I haven't seen any hummingbirds in my yard yet either. I hope they come.
It's Saturday morning now and and yesterday and today have turned out to be beautiful sunny days. Glad you had nice weather driving after all.
Have fun and a safe trip back home.

So, what is the best way to handle hummingbirds? Suggestions? I would like to purchase a feeder, but don't know about the food, or feeders, etc... but I do so much love birds..your yard is giving me a busy bug. and I'm sorry about your wheelbarrow. :( that's frustrating..I'd have given up at the first deflate.
caulking? Yeah, it's not easy because of the mess and the smooth slow manner in which you have to express the caulk..it's tempting to speed up the process, but then you have a globby mess.
YUCK! :(

sincerely,
Elizabeth

Oh Gawd, that wheelbarrow story sucks. I've been getting quotes for mulching and I would be really happy to do it myself, but I am afraid I won't be able to trench. I've got the shovel, I just don't think I am strong enough. And no, I won't be getting any HELP. It would be my doing. Or we pay. Have you seen my most recent bird visitor. He's gorgeous.

Jay's idea was great. There's a Southern States nearby. What about a garden center or nursery near you? There are a lot around.
