There's no place like a good hotel

A quick note from the road....

I'm in Rosslyn, VA, attending a 2-day cutting class at the famed Graham Webb Academy. If I could, I'd do school all over again just to attend the Academy. Really. Kids who go here for their cosmetology license come out with skills that rival experienced hairdressers. They didn't have schools like this back in the day. I took Classic Cutting 1 two years ago and I'm back for part 2. My friend Kit offered to share a hotel with me, just for the fun of it. We're staying at a fabulous boutique hotel, The Hotel Palomar, and if I could, I'd move in. I really would. Did I mention the bathroom is stocked with Aveda products? That won me over from first glance. Rosslyn is only about 45 minutes from where I live, but it's so nice to walk to class and not bother with traffic. This hotel is visually beautiful. They have a nightly wine reception, complementary. With hor dourves. Here's some pictures of the room, and the view from the outdoor terrace.

That's Georgetown in the distance

The Washington Monument

My class was about a 2 minute walk from the hotel. There were 28 students. Here's a few pictures.

I brought my 'girl' back to the hotel to blow dry her hair. Tomorrow we'll do a different cut on our 'models'. Kit will take the Metro to her job while I'm at school. We'll go home when we're both done. In the meantime, the wine reception is about to start, so, I have to go. It's a rough life.

Again, if I lived closer to you, you bet you would cut my hair. Especially after you take classes like this.

I was thinking the same thing. I so need a new do.

Sounds like a wonderful experience!

That's a plush looking hotel. Glad you are enjoying your class and the wine reception.

I love hotels too. If I was rich, I would probably live in one.

A very "feng shui"-looking hotel. It was restful just to look at your photos.

Never once in all my years as a nurse did I get a swank hotel or a wine reception for any class! Bummer! Gorgeous hotel. We just had a stay at a really nice hotel in Minneapolis, Sofitel. European in style, they answer the phone, "Bonjour". NOTHING was an issue there, the best part was the morning wake up call with complimentary coffee delivered to our door 15 minutes later. A girl could get used to that.

WOW...I am truly green with envy, Cheryl! That hotel looks like heaven, and you're "sharpening" your hairstyling skills. Double bonus! Have a great time and enjoy your stay!

Hugs....

Hey... our friendship has blossomed through the comment sections of our blogs. So why stop now?

It's a funny thing how technology is responsible for more and more of our lives. (Subject for another time).
Even though or blogs are polar opposites, you being unflappable under every circumstance and my blog is, well, let's say, not for the faint of heart. My gravity pull toward you has been that you are always happy. Who does that shit?

But I understood it when you said in comments, I have never been afraid. And that is all the difference.
Much love my friend. You've taught me well.

Boy! Id like to go "shopping" in that hotel room! - I wonder if one of those arm chairs would fit in my overnight bag?
