Another day at home. So unlike me, but something I could get used to. How strange to go from so much activity to so much sitting. This morning found me immersed in paperwork and phone calls. That stuff takes time! When I was finished, I went upstairs to complete the assemblage of my cards. I turned on Emily's computer, which is in our craft/computer room, and decided to click on the button for AOL's XM Satellite Radio for the first time. Well, wow! Emily has Bose speakers on her computer, and the music emanating from them was amazing. Who knew? I jammed to Christmas cover music while finishing the cards, then came downstairs to start the writing. I'm done! See that stack on the table? I drove to the post office and sent them on their way. Good-bye cards. We spent a lot of time together, but it's time for your new homes.

I came home to find packages on my front porch! I love packages! I've been waiting for this one.

I love The Pioneer Woman and look...she personalized my calendar. To Cheryl. I feel so honored!

And here's my new cookbook. I don't want to get it dirty! This is one of the books I borrowed from my library and I liked it enough to buy it. I will get it dirty. Doesn't that lasagna on the cover look great?

On that note, I'm off to make some dinner!

Cheryl, I love Italian food. I could eat it every night. But, I don't... and my hips are thanking me. I wanted to get all my cards mailed today, but ran behind schedule. Tomorrow is a new day!

I have very seriously considered getting XM too. But, keep deciding against it.

I love Italian food too.

That looks like a good cook book - and it's a Cook's Illustrated. I may have to go check that one out at the library too. I love CI.

Do you know what I did today? I went to the post office to mail some packages and buy stamps for my Christmas cards, stood in line for an HOUR AND A HALF! And then forgot the freaking stamps. Thank goodness I can get them at the grocery store - they probably won't be pretty Christmas ones, but there is no way I am setting foot back inside the post office.

Enjoy your evening!

oooooo...you got one of Ree's calendars! Do you just love it?? I was tempted but I'm so picky about my calendars that I haven't made the leap to purchase one again. Are the squares really big? I think I might be jealous!

I have always been impressed by those who can Christmas cards out the door. I have enough trouble with the thank you notes after the holiday...I could never manage cards before, too!

My favorite Italian cookbook is from a restaurant in NYC called Rao's.

Cheryl, I'm so happy your Christmas Party was a winner. The only thing better (for me) would have been to be there. As you know things have gotten a little fuzzy here but they are on the way to smoothing out. I'm back on my game, so to speak, but I'll never catch up.

I didn't know about the Pioneer Woman but thanks to you I do now. Her site looks really interesting. Horses were a big part of my life when I lived home with my parents. I bookmarked her blog. That's your Christmas present to me. Thank you. It's a gift that I know I'll really enjoy.

Isn't it a good feeling to get those cards out the door?

The plate of lasagna looks like it's actually sitting on the book.

Man, that does look good. In fact, it's making me hungry. But then, about everything makes me hungry these days. :)

I hope you are feeling better.

I try to keep my books in good shape (which is a trick at my house) but I do love getting my cookbooks dirty! Kind of like in the story of the velveteen rabbit, I see it as a sign of true love:)
