13 December 2007

It feels so good to have a day at home. I know a few in a row would do me good. I've taken Sudafed and Motrin today. I won't take any over-the-counter medications on work days because I fear they will either make me hyper or sleepy and I don't want to be either.

I've been cooking and assembling food for the party. The bourbon sauce is ready for the meatballs. I don't make my own meatballs anymore; the ones from Sam's Club are just as good. The chutney cheese spread is done. The chipped beef dip is ready for the bread bowl. The hot artichoke dip is ready for the oven. The spinach cheese balls still need to be rolled. The chocolate topped oatmeal bars are cooling. The Chillied nuts are done. Usually I make more appetizers, but this year in addition to the large chafing dish of chili con queso with sausage that my neighbor makes, I know of 4 more people that are bringing appetizers. When people ask if they can bring something, I usually say that a dessert would be wonderful. I usually don't make the desserts. I know of three people who are bringing desserts, and I made one just to be sure there's enough. Everyone who comes to my party knows to come very hungry. I can't wait to eat all that good stuff.

The carbon monoxide alarm went off again this morning. At least it wasn't during the night. This time I called the fire department. They told me to wait outside the house for them to come. They checked all over the house and concluded that I have a faulty monitor. I'll buy a new one very soon. I'm relieved to know all is well.

It's another bleary, gray, rainy day. The bright spot looking out my window has been the sight of woodpeckers, cardinals, and other assorted songbirds at the feeder. I'd love to take a picture, but every time I get close enough, they fly away.

I'm going to sit on the couch now and roll those spinach balls while watching TV. I hope all is well with you, my on-line friends. Thanks for being a part of my life.

You go, woman. I can't believe how much energy you seem to have even being sick. I am still praying for you to get better. I'd like to come to your party, just to taste the food!!

And thanks for the comment about my hair, I was hoping you'd like it, being into hair and all.

Get well soon and I hope your voice comes back!!

Thanks for sharing your life with us, Cheryl. I love how blogging is very much a two way street.
I'm glad you got a day at home, especially after being sick and needing to prepare for your party. The food all sounds delicious! I hope you guys have a wonderful time:)
Those alarms (though lifesavers!) are such a pain. When ours went off a few months back we determined it needed new batteries, but then it kept going off even with the new batteries.

Lord, I wish I could accomplish half this much when I am well, much less when I am sick! You amaze me with your organizational skills and the way you can put a party altogether. I hope you feel much better when the time comes, so you can enjoy the festivities, there is no doubt that your guests will! :-)

You have a perfect party well in hand. I hope both you and Em are over the worst of your colds. It's OK to roll but remember to put 2 parts rest into the mix.

My luck with carbon monoxide alarms is that I replace the batteries one year and just buy a new monitor the next. My smoke alarm, on the other hand, has been fine since 1998 with only a battery change two times a year.

Don't forget pictures of the party. Wish I could be a taster. Sounds yummy.

I'm so glad your day was productive and that the carbon monoxide scare turned out ok. Your appetizers sound so yummy!

PS - That's not me in the picture with Ruth. :) I don't have any recent ones of us together, but maybe I'll see if I can scare up an old one.

Have a good night - sleep well.

Sounds like you have been busy even being sick.
It's nice that your neighbors make some of the food too.

Don't you know that you are supposed to just lay there feeling miserable when you are sick??? (Like anyone has time for that!)

I've been using Bloglines, I always wonder about Google Reader and Live Reader though...
