How can it be that I had a busy day off yesterday and have a million things to do before work today?

I brought my parents old 8mm film to an digital imaging business yesterday. There were 13 small reels and about 2 large ones, with no labeling so it's all a mystery as to dates, events, etc... We decided to get a disc burned that will only play on a computer to start out with. My siblings and I will present it to my father on the occasion of his 80th birthday. We won't really call it a birthday present since it's to my mom too. My father lacks for nothing material, and I don't think we've ever given him a gift he's been happy with. So, when my family is here for his birthday we'll all watch the movies on the computer, then later, I'll sit down with my parents and write down the order of things. Then we'll have DVD's burned that will play on our TV's. My parents are going to love this, and all of us kids (4) will get copies.

I was in the cooking mood again yesterday. When Emily came home and saw me at the stove, she said something to the effect of, Wow, it seems like we're a real family now. Because of my cooking. I told her that I can cook again since she's not a vegetarian anymore. The reason she stopped? There was nothing to eat. She was what I'd call a carbohydrate vegetarian. She didn't want to eat tofu, beans, vegetables, meat substitutes, etc.. So, she was hungry. I made lasagna following the recipe on the box of San Giorgio oven ready lasagna noodles. It turned out perfect. I made a kugel to bring to my brother's house on Saturday when we celebrate Hanukkah, and I made applesauce. Unlike my cooking experience last weekend, I didn't feel like I spent 4 hours in the kitchen. It was somehow much easier.

Time to get ready for work. Have a great Friday!

Watching the film from years gone by will be so much fun. I bet there are both tears and laughter. You are so thoughtful and I know your parents will enjoy the day.

You make me hungry.

I'm glad you are enjoying cooking. I need to get that love back. Sigh.

That really is a great gift to give, I hope your father appreciates it!

Hope you've had a great Friday. I bet the snow is all melted now. I still have Em's photo as my desktop. Glad you got the reels to reels to the digital imaging place. That is going to be an awesome gift. You are a very thoughtful daughter! Missing you today. I always get jealous of your work when they get to have you and your blog friends don't.
