I'll start by saying I'm so behind on reading your blogs. Busy and sickness are my excuses. I've pretty much lost my voice, and I plan on doing nothing but whispering when necessary tomorrow. I didn't want to talk today, but that's exactly what I did. It's hard not to talk in my profession. At least I'm not sneezing or have a runny nose. I just have a total head cold with a voice that barely squeaks out. I still have 3 more days till the party, so I have hope. I may just be the silent hostess.

I made the sauce for the meatballs and one of the appetizers tonight. Tomorrow I'll do laundry, make two more appetizers, and get out all the serving pieces, cutlery, plates and napkins, etc... I'll have everything set up by the end of the day. I think that will still leave me time to just relax. Yes, you heard me right. I've got to do it.

The carbon monoxide detector kept going off a while ago. We had to keep opening the doors. I was sure it was a malfunction, but Emily wanted us to leave the house. I thought of calling the fire department, but didn't think it was a serious problem. Emily sat outside in the cold. I read the manual. I think the problem was a low battery, so I changed it and that was about 20 minutes ago. No more alarm. I will be so bummed if that wakes me up tonight. I don't want any drama.

Well, it's time for bed. I'm sure I'll be doing some catching up here tomorrow. Till then...

Ugh, I hate being sick. I don't know how on earth you seem so calm when you're getting ready for a party. I'm a spazz on a good day; I'd probably have a meltdown if I was sick and party-planning. I just finally got over a cold a few days ago--darn thing lasted almost three weeks. I hope you recover way faster!

I've always wondered why carbon monoxide and smoke detectors don't make a different sound when the batter is low. They made the same sound they would make if their was smoke or carbon dioxide. You'd think they would have thought of that to avoid confusion.

Feel better. Hoping a hug from Texas helps.

And brava to you for your party battle plan. I admire a woman who schedules time to relax.

I hope you feel better. This is a bad time of year to be under the weather, and yet it seems to be when so many get it..I suppose because of the weather, and also the stress of the holidays.

Those carbon monoxide detectors can be a pain, you never know if they mean it or not...

Feel better!

Hey, I'm not sure I trust you to relax once the cutlery is out. Don't push too hard, especially today when you actually can rest. . . off your feet. I'm not far away. Let me know if I can do anything to help you out.

Don't forget that you scheduled time to relax. It's the most important part. Bummer that you have a cold and no voice. Hope relaxation will give your body time to heal.

Cheryl - I'm so glad to hear you scheduled in some time to relax. That is so smart. Hope your cold gets better each day.

Was that the end of the carbon monoxide alarm?

That's 2 alarms that you've had go off now. You might want to check your smoke detector before that goes off too. Things seem to happen in groups of 3. :-)

I keep meaning to ask you about these trees in your house.. the skinny little ones that show off your ornaments so well. Where did you find them?
