18 December 2007

It was great to be back in the swing of things after my two idle days at home. I'm starting to feel better. My voice is almost back to normal. Yes! The cold is on it's way out, and it's about time. As you can imagine, the salon is in high gear this close to Christmas. Busy! My station is piled high with gifts from generous clients. I bring them home to open on Christmas morning. It's a lot of fun, and Emily helps. It's hard to believe Christmas is only a week away.

To change the subject completely, I've always wondered why so many people use word verification. If you wouldn't mind, and you have it on your blog, could you tell me why? I've always been curious.

This isn't much of a post. Sorry. I'll try to do better next time. Off to bed for me!

Hmm ... Should I give my barber a present? She's a really nice girl and does a pretty good job. I've never thought about that. I always tip her though.

Word verification can get really annoying. People use it to stop spam, but I've never used it and only gotten maybe three spam messages ever.

it's supposed to stop the robotic spam...but I've never had any major problems..and I've had it taken down for a couple of months now.

I'm glad you're feeling better too!!

So glad you're feeling better. You were really brave to keep your party on track feeling so bad. It was a wonderful party, I know.

How many days can you rest after Christmas. I hope a few days are built in for just reading and being quiet. You must need them badly.

Crusty's right I beleive - I think when you get a lot of traffic it triggers the robots - I just recently started my new blog but diabled it and will leave it off until it becomes an issue.

Glad your feeling better ! Happy Holidays

I'm glad you are feeling better! Lots of sickies at my job right now, all of them with sore throats and cough. I am trying desperately not to get it. I've got too much to do before the end of december!!!!

I took word verification off and haven't had problems. Since I have really bad eyes and dyslexia, that word vert. can be especially frustrating for me and it's even harder if I'm tired.

Glad you are on the mend.

I use word verification to keep some of the spam at bay. But after seeing what folks posted here, I may be taking it off.

I've never had problems with the spam, which is a good thing. I'm sure the more high traffic blogs suffer... especially if you have the ads.. at least I would think so.

I'm so glad you are feeling better! Your customers are so generous to give gifts.. shows you how appreciated you really are.

Glad you are feeling better Cheryl...

I find the word verification most annoying but a small price to pay to be able to leave a comment on the blogs i enjoy...

glad to hear you are on the mend...and gettin lots of gifts. i am sooo bad at that--even if i think..hey i should give so and so --like the mailman, or hairdreser--a gift ---or a tip , at christmas-- for some reason it never happens. shame on me. but God bless the people who do follow through right.
that's where the "good intentions pave the way " thing comes in i think..and unfortunately-- i fit that. :((
anyhow ... as for the word verification thing? i despise it! i cannot SEE it..it makes me lose my comments over and over until i just avoid pages or commenting on them at all most of the time. i dunno. i think it is just a new way to hassle people.
but happy humpday anyhow.
:))

You're so cute to wait to open them until Christmas day. You must have been adorable as a little girl at Christmas time.

What is you fondest memory of Christmas when you were a child?
There's a humpful thought for you today. :)

Always,
Crusty
Is Demi still around or is it Cheryl again? :)

people use Word Verification to guard against spam. I don't use it and I don't seem to have a problem with spam... Maybe others do.

Sorry... pressed publish by accident! I am a school teacher and you would expect that I would get goodies from my students at this time of year but I do not and never have... That's because I teach in a jail for youth and it "ain't cool" for them to show appreciation! Oh well! :-)

Glad you're getting better. I managed to fight off a cold with a few of those zinc lozenges in the past two days. I feel great today!

Cheryl, I just have to tell you, I took a 9X13 size banana cream pie (from your wonderful recipe) to my work Christmas party and it was a smashing success! I didn't have a drop to bring home and that's what I like! I got loads of compliments on it and told them I got the recipe from an online blog friend. So I want to thank you again for sharing the recipe. I am adding it to my permanent repertoire.

Have a great evening,
Ginni

i use it to keep out spammers, which were frequent on mine and other blogs without the word verification. as i'm reading the previous comments here, some have disabled it. perhaps i will also, and see what happens. maybe since blogger switched over to the "new blogger," things have gotten better against the spammers. i'll see. so glad you're feeling better.
