A mid-day post, for a change. What a great day today has been. It seems late, but it's only about 4:00. I'll start by saying that my father's been waiting all day to be sprung from the hospital. I just got off the phone with him and he's still waiting for a doctor to come by and release him. Geez. No wonder health insurance is so costly. Perhaps the hospital has no patients waiting for a bed and by keeping my father past a certain time they get paid for another full day?

I headed out this morning to meet Bonnie at Panera's. She brought her pen tablet to play with. The coolest thing to me was to be able to write, with handwriting, and transfer it to a document. It seems like there's all kinds of things to do with a pen tablet, and everyone would like it. You could use it for photography, graphics, etc. Bonnie and I talked, talked, talked. We saw the snow falling outside, but didn't pay much mind to it. We showed each other our favorite blogs. Ate and drank coffee, and finally, after a few hours, knew it was time to leave. We walked out to a white-out! Here's a few pics:

It was a slow trip home. The snow was so wet and the roads so slushy that traffic crawled. That was fine. I came home and walked around the yard, marveling at the beauty of the heavy snow on the trees. I'd say there's about 3" of snow. I hope they don't cancel school tomorrow.

Is there nothing more classic that the bright red of a Cardinal against a snowy white background? I sat in a chair by the window just waiting for this shot.

The precipitation keeps changing from snow to freezing rain to snow again. I can see my neighbor Kelly shoveling her driveway, but I just don't feel like shoveling mine. I'm sitting on my couch, wrapped in blanket, watching cooking shows on PBS. I'm going to prepare the ingredients for tonight's dinner, then watch a DVD with Emily. Like I said earlier, it's been a great day.

Cheryl,

Could I use the picture of you clearing snow off your car and the cardinal on my weather blog? I wanted to ask you first.

Glad you are having a good day. I was trying to think earlier if you worked today or not. I get it mixed up sometimes. Tell Bonnie I would love to play with her tablet! LOL I love gadgets and Emily needs to put up some photos of her iTouch. I am so jealous! Hopefully, I will start work soon and can afford me some gadgets as well. Take care!

I'm just so jealous of all your snow! It's finally cold enough here with temps in the 20s, but we just can't get any snow! It's just so unfair. LOL

I'm glad Dad is doing good !

But unlike Jay, I'm not jealous. Please keep it all for yourself :)

Poor Dad! I hate the hospital so I know he must feel the same. It's miserable having to wait any longer then necessary. I hope they get around to doing their job eventually.

Those pics are great. That cardinal is just fantastic. Truly a classic like you said. How often does that really happen!

Hospitals only function in their own time. When you know you're going home it's hard to be patient. Hope all went well and that he's home feeling better.

We had a little snow last evening. Just enough for the TV stations to get pictures. All traces were gone this morning. I don't envy you having to clear your car. Both you and Bonnie look c-o-l-d.

Love the Cardinal in the snow. Classic and beautiful.

I'm glad your Dad got released today.

Thank you for the pic of the cardinal. They were my mother's favorite, and I remember her calling out to me to come and see the cardinals from her bedroom window.

Glad your dad is fine.

I loved that movie.

Thanks for reminding me that snow is beautiful, since I spent so much time cursing it today.

Hay wooman, tell Andrew me casa es su casa, he can play with my tablet anytime. How do you like being the translator middleman? You said you are the middle child? It WAS a nice day. I think that cardinal was at my house this afternoon (maybe it was his cousin). They are so beautiful against the white snow. Thanks for your company and "hospitality" today. And for being a great therapist. :-) (Tell your mother you met her spirit twin)
