Bring it on, Mr. Squirrel

I foresee many entertaining moments in the future, and you know how easily I'm amused. Emily said, "Mom, you know the squirrel's always going to be smarter than you." Unfortunately, she may be right.

I know that squirrels are reputed to be darling little animals that are so cute doing their tricks. I don't want to hurt one but to me they are rats with bushy tails. The little dickens get into everything except the goodies left for them.

Did you buy that or invent it? I know you said you were looking for a certain kind of tomato cage.

Squirrels have a well deserved reputation for being quite clever. But for awhile you shouldn't have any real problems. What you have inside the cage isn't that attractive to them just now. Now put an ear of corn in there and watch out.

No, you should be fine until the tomatoes start to develop and get ripe.

The squirrels probably had a meeting in their main conference room today to see if someone could draw up some plans for how to get into that thing. LOL

I think I have a mole in my front yard. These weird holes keep popping up. Never mind the raccoons who ate my plants or the bunnies going bananas in the backyard. I think there's a bunny nest somewhere...

It looks like The Tomato County Jail. Is there a little drawer that slides out so you can feed them?

LOL! SQUIRREL PROOF! I hope they don't get in that thing, but I have a feeling they are going to try. It will at least drive them crazy! LOL Love ya, Cheryl. Have a great day!

I'm not a fan of squirrels - they did some damage to our house at one time.
That is some contraption you have come up with. It doesn't look like anything will be able to get to those plants but is should be fun watching the squirrels try.

the only way I got squirrrels off my bird feeder was to only put safflower seed in - they don't like it - but it's kind of pricey for me!

Squirrels are such cunning little creatures! I think that looks good and it might work. At least your tomatoes can get lots of sun and rain. It's a good thing you reinforced it with tomato cages.

You'll have to let us know how it worked as the summer goes on.

Well, you'll either have plump untouched tomatoes or captured squirrels. :)

You should set up a video camera. I'd love to see what happens! Great job though... looks squirrely proof enough.

Let's see. What's holding it to the patio? could we go under? And the top seems secured by some green twine? green wires? Who's got the wire-cutters? This is going to be so much fun!
