Do you ever think, thank goodness for tomorrows? I just took this picture. I'm on my deck, the chimes are playing a melody, the birds are chirping, there's a nice little breeze, I'm in the shade, and I have my cup of coffee. I walked for an hour, listening to my audio book for part of the time, talking to my GA sister for the rest. Life is good. Life wasn't so good a few days ago. It was horrible. But, then there was a tomorrow. A new start. You really do need to take life one day at a time. It's the only way to stay optimistic. For whatever reason, I was blessed with being an optimistic person, and I'm so thankful for that. And that's about as deep as I get. LOL!
I've been waiting for weeks for my lilies to bloom. I knew I had Stargazers, but didn't know what these were:
The plant is neck high on me. The buds are at least 5" long. What would they look like when they opened? I thought they were some kind of Asian lily, but wasn't sure. On Thursday the first one opened. By Friday, two more. Here's what I got:
At first I was disappointed. White? All that anticipation and all I got were pure white lilies? But then, the smell. Captivating. It permeates at least a 10 foot radius. And the pureness of the color really is beautiful. Anyone know what kind of lily this is?
I'm going to a party this afternoon for one of my book club friends. Time spent with them is guaranteed to be fun! I was asked to bring my 'famous' Banana Pecan Cream Pie. I wrote about it a while ago, and I know some of you have made it. If you haven't, and want to serve a dessert that everyone will rave about, this is it. Try it, you'll love it. I think I got the recipe from Gourmet magazine many years ago. I've made it a zillion times since then.
I suppose I should get up and do something. Or not.
So the something I did was upload this little video. It took forever! Have a great day!

I adore lilies, especially stargazers. I have lilies in my front yard--I don't know exactly what kind, but they're bright orange and the plants themselves are over five feet tall and when the lilies bloom, they're bigger than my hands. The pictures are gorgeous...I'm looking forward to my property "maturing" (our house was only built a little over three years ago) and the plants looking like an actual part of the landscape, intead of some alien plant life.
I always enjoy a tour of your garden. In my mind's eye, I see a garden very rich with surprises and thoroughly enjoyable to sit in and kick back. Peace.
Beautiful post and garden. Glad life is good for you.
When I have a bad day, I have to remember that this too will pass.
Love the video.. and your voice sounds just like I expected it to if that makes sense!
Have fun at your party.
Wow, those lilies are gorgeous! And I can't believe that one plant is that tall! I wish I had a piece of your banana cream pie!
Oh my goodness! I love your voice! It is so nice to put a voice behind the words. Great dessert, I will have to make it!
Bootiful flowers! You are blessed to have them in your space.
That is one of the things I miss most about not living in a house.
Have fun at your party. I am sure you will.
Those look like they might be Casablanca Oriental lilies.

It was very cool to hear your chimes and you.
hi Cheryl, i'm relaxing indoors today, but my indoor relaxation is like your outdoor relaxation. such beautiful flowers, and i can feel the warm breeze even as i listen to the chimes on your video. enjoy the rest of your day!
What beautiful flowers, I am so jealous. I cannot grow anything.
Optimism is the best way, I have always been accused of being waaay to optimistic...no such thing, if you ask me.
Hugs.
:)

Looks like a perfect peaceful sunday !
Your flowers are gorgeous!!
Glad to hear things are going well for you.
Love the sound of your wind chimes. :-)
I'm really glad life is feeling good:) I don't have ears on my computer here at work so I have to come back for the video. The lilies are SO beautiful- both kinds! They have always been one of my favorites.
Lovely!! Those flowers are gorgeous. The white lily is my absolute favorite!
I hope you had a fun day!
Your windchimes have an exquisite sound to them! I have two of them....one at the front and one on the back deck and neither one sounds as nice as yours. Very soothing aren't they? Sigh...life IS good.
What a post! Good heavens, girl! I have missed you since I was away and without access to a computer! First let me say ... those lilies! Reminded me of the Bible verse: Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. It's clear God was talking about lilies like yours! I love the smell of stargazers.
Your windchimes are truly magical!
This is about a previous post, but I'm so glad your appointment book filled up. What a blessing. Even with dent lady.
I need that banana pecan cream pie recipe! For some reason the link didn't lead me to it! Help! I've never heard of that and I must make it!
I call myself the most pessimistic optimist you'll ever meet. I talk out of both sides of my mouth all the time. Yak yak yak ... you are doing a great job, Cheryl. And you are right: life is good.
The lillies are beautiful, they are my Moms favorite. Your garden is beautiful.
That link doesn't take us to the pie. Cindy
