I was going to wait till I caught up on reading blogs, but that might take all night. The good thing about Google Reader is that you know when some one's posted something new. The bad thing is signing on and seeing that there's 84 new posts. Whew. And that's with being pretty good at keeping up.
Work flew. I started off with one of my most, shall we say, challenging clients. I really only have about two of them. I posses a good deal of patience, but sometimes... My highlight client was under the dryer when I noticed her head was down, reading a magazine, which meant the front foils were out of the dryer. First I motioned for her to lift her head, but she didn't understand me. I went over and told her she needed to lift her head because the foils were out of the dryer. She told me if she did that, then she wouldn't be able to read. Uggggh! I told her the processing was what was important, held the magazine for her at face level, then walked away. Yes, I did feel bad, and I did apologize when she was in my chair, but she takes every bit of patience I've got. 'Nuff said. The rest of the day went quickly. My last client canceled, and I got a head start on Borders. I did something a little rude there too. I had been sitting, enjoying my coffee and a magazine, when a mother and her two young boys sat next to me. The boys were so loud, and the mother was micro-managing them in a very loud voice, and I thought to myself, NO!!! When I got up to get a new magazine, I came back to the loud father who had joined the group. I pushed my table to a clearing in the middle of the room and when I went back for my chair I said to them, I thought you'd have more room with my table out of the way. There were four of them at a table for two, but that wasn't my reason for moving. Hey, Borders is my reward for working on Saturdays. I didn't want it spoiled!
Well, I better move on. Till the next time...

LMAO!!!
I'm glad to know that you sometimes reach the end of your patience too. Loud, unruly children irritate me but parents that harp and cause additional confusion make me really annoyed. It's not the children's fault. Parents should be parents and hand out consequences for misbehavior. Now you know my pet peve. I'll get off my soap box and say, "Have a nice weekend doing the things you want to do."
None of that sounds too unreasonable to me. It's nice that you don't have too many clients that test your patience like that. So...this is your "Friday" right? I hope it's a good weekend:)
Cute snowman!
You know, enough is enough sometimes!! My children are quiet when they should be, so I know it isn't too much to ask. ;)
I love how you treat yourself to Borders as your reward for working on Saturdays. We just got a brand new Borders in our city, and I don't spend much time there, but I would like to.
Thanks for reminding me that I need to reward myself like that sometimes!
Now that's funny! And I dont blame you! I hope your evening was awesome.... :)
I don't think you were being rude in either case, Cheryl. What kind of idiot pays for hair care and then refuses to follow the necessary routine? And there is nothing that makes me unhappier than ending up at a booth or table next to unruly kids or people yacking on their cellphones. More often than not, I will glower and move to a different spot. I figure that peace and quiet is part of the experience I am paying for. If they think I am rude, so be it.
It seems like coffee shops should be like libraries; you speak very quietly and don't disturb any one else. I like how you always give us a glimpse of your Christmas stuff.
Good for you! It really is annoying when parents don't or won't control their kids.
HA!! I don't think it was rude at all!! And that's coming from someone with a loud walking and speaking hubby, and three very busy boys. :)
Always,
Crusty
