I thought I'd post a quick update. The technician showed up at the exact time he promised. He replaced the motherboard and memory, but the computer's still not working right. They're sending out a recovery disc, and with tech support, I'll install it. The tech was very nice, and so was I.

I just read your last post a little while ago in reader and was coming back to comment - still getting used to that reader thing. Anyway I'm glad you finally seem to have the attention of Dell on your side! Though it does stink that after all that it's still not working. I hope they can help you resolve the rest in a MUCH more timely manner.
Enjoy your evening:)
I'm always amazed at the lengths companies will go to instead of just replacing the whole laptop. Bye the time they're done, they will have replaced every single part in that thing.
I'm with Jay. I hope this recovery disk works though.
Good for you for being nice, you're a bigger person than I.
Hugs,
fiwa
sorry it's not workin right-- but was the tech at least a computer fairy??? :))
if not-- there's a nice get well fairy at jlees place :))
happy friday
You had to be very much in control to be nice. I might not have been able to smile and hold my temper. I hope the recovery disc works.
Tomorrow starts the weekend. I know you have to work tomorrow but enjoy the part of Saturday that belongs to you and the rest of your weekend as well.
Good thing for them, huh! I don't know if I could have kept myself from saying something snotty. hehehe
Maybe we ought to buy HP from now on.
That's a good girl. Was this the same tech who ditched you the first time? If not, I guess it wasn't his fault. If it was, I'd still be glaring at him. Have a good weekend, Cheryl. We'll have to catch up soon.
I hope the recovery disk helped. If it's any consolation, Dell reported bad earnings the other day and got quite a whacking on the stock market. Gee, I wonder why!
Yay! I am glad in the end it came together.
Yea!! Computer is in transit to being fixed..I'm so happy for you!!
Just stopping in to say Hi! Beautiful out..in heaven right now!
So, was the tech not only nice, but professional and cute? hahaha..
just a saturday chuckle..
Sincerely,
Elizabeth
I can't believe all the trouble you are having getting your computer fixed!!!
Maybe you should consider getting an Apple. :-)
Glad to hear Emily is doing so well in school.
Just reading your blog about all your computer/tech troubles is making me get the heebie jeebies. I'm thinking of getting a new laptop, but not sure how I want to go about it... where to get it, how much I want to spend, etc. So far I've just been reading reviews and ACK! they all have bad ones! I don't know if I want Vista...sounds like a nightmare!!
Anyway, good luck and I hope you get it all squared away soon!! Computers are like running water...you don't think about them much unless they aren't working right! Then it's a top priority!!
